Tamil cinema is being dominated by female actors with the fame of Rajini, Kamal Hassan and Vijay. Veteran actresses like Tamizhselvi and Nalini Sri who had made a great impact in Tamil movie industry in the past years are now winning accolades for their roles in latest movies. Aashiqui 2 is a big blockbuster film that has been released recently and it has got almost all the stars from Kollywood (Tamil Indian film industry). Music director A.R. Rahman has composed melodious numbers for this glamorous love story including title track "Aashiqui" which is unbeatable on charts these days since its release date was announced by producer Aditya Chopra. In the past, many Tamil actresses have tried their luck in Bollywood but none of them has been successful. Among these actresses Rajini and Kamal Hassan have a huge fan following in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, actress Raadhika also made a tryst with Hindi movies but she failed to do well because of her poor command over Hindi language. However, today, Tamil stars are considered as top stars in the Hindi film industry and they are given superb roles to play by producers of Hindi films. These days actress Nayanthara from Kollywood is also being groomed as a replacement for the former stunner Khushboo from Bollywood. “I am excited about the role in Aashiqui 2. It is a very challenging role for me. I was particular about getting it right for all the love story scenes. These days, I am getting great offers from Tamil industry but I am concentrating on Hindi movie industry at this point in time. Like every actress, I want to do well in Hindi films because it is a big market and audience of Hindi films are also good”, says Nayanthara. The film's soundtrack is composed by A R Rahman while lyrics are written by Gulzar. Irshad Kamil edited the film; Abhijith has produced the film under the production banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. The music rights for "Aashiqui 2" were purchased by Times Music. The first video song of this movie was released on Hungama TV channel on 19 January 2010 on Eid day.The song is sung by Papon, Alka Yagnik, Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal, Udit Narayan and Neeraj Shridhar for 'Kannum Njanum'.
